Endodontic Treatments
(Root Canal Dentistry)
We provide exceptional endodontic treatment at Quorn Dental Practice and Implant Clinic. Also known as root canal treatment, endodontics is concerned with treating the inside of the tooth, right down to the root.
This form of treatment is required when the nerve of a tooth has been infected through either decay or injury. If a root canal treatment is not performed, the infection can spread, resulting in an abscess and/or the possible extraction of the tooth or affected teeth. This is a last resort for endodontists in Loughborough and throughout the rest of the UK. Root canal treatment is a highly-skilled and precise procedure that works to save the tooth.
This is often considered to be the most worthwhile solution. It is important to note, however, that more than one appointment may be needed, but this is dependent upon your individual circumstances. In all cases, state-of-the-art equipment, including high-powered microscopy, digital radiography, rotary/ultrasonic preparation and thermal obturation, are used here at Quorn Dental Practice and Implant Clinic.
This means our patients will have absolute peace of mind that their treatment is being carried out by highly-qualified endodontists and who are using the latest technology the industry has to offer. We endeavour to deliver exceptional results that will last for many decades to come.
How long does the treatment take?
It depends upon the individual patient and their circumstances, however, most cases requiring root canal treatment are completed over the course of a couple of dental visits, with each appointment lasting no longer than 90 minutes, the majority of the time. The length of time the procedure lasts for depends on the severity of your case.
Is endodontic treatment painful?
With our advanced equipment and skilful dentists, there is little-to-no pain involved. Your treating dentist will also use a local anaesthetic to numb the tooth and gums, so you remain comfortable during the procedure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery from an endodontic treatment is relatively quick. Depending on the severity of your case, it could take anywhere between 24 hours and 3 days to completely recover, although any mild tenderness you experience will alleviate within a few days. In the unlikely event that you are experiencing any additional pain or if it’s lasting for longer than you’re told by your dentist, make sure you contact the practice to notify them of the discomfort you are feeling.
